PRESSURE MONITORING FOR LONG-TERM CARE In development

A pressure-monitoring mat
for nursing-home beds.

Turnwise maps pressure beneath a normal fitted sheet, tracks patient turns, and alerts caregivers when repositioning or a change is needed. Long-term pressure trends show where pressure persists and how it changes after each turn.

A flexible sensing assembly.

The bonded sensor layers sit inside a protective TPU cover. A waterproof zipper on the fourth side lets the assembly slide out for repair or replacement; the other three sides are sealed.

Why pressure monitoring matters.

Patients with limited mobility may be unable to shift their own weight. Sustained pressure can damage skin and underlying tissue, leading to pressure injuries.

Turnwise makes pressure patterns visible over time and detects wetness from incontinence, giving nursing teams information to support repositioning and changing care.

2.5Mpeople in the U.S. develop a pressure injury each year
~60,000deaths each year as a direct result of pressure injuries
$9.1–11.9Bspent treating pressure injuries in the U.S. every year
$151,700upper estimate to treat a single pressure injury

Older adults and nursing-home residents are among those at highest risk. Many pressure injuries can be prevented with timely repositioning, which is exactly what Turnwise is built to support.
